【Hankel Star | Student Self-Expression and Peer Selection Process】

In this “Hankel Star” selection activity, each candidate student was required to come on stage and introduce themselves, sharing their personal traits and experiences. From an overall observation, the teaching team was deeply moved by the students’ performances.

Although most students showed clear signs of nervousness on stage, such as shaking hands or unstable voices, they still made great efforts to complete their presentations. Some students spoke in Chinese, while others in English.

Language fluency was not the focus; rather, the emphasis was on whether students could gradually learn to express themselves clearly. One student said, “If you have any questions, you can come to me, I will help.” Others shared experiences of supporting classmates, assisting teachers, or taking responsibility at home. While simple, these examples reflected authentic and concrete daily actions.

After the presentations, students returned to their seats to participate in voting. During this process, they were encouraged to reflect and decide: “Who do I choose? Who do I trust?” Their decisions were based on their observations and interactions with peers.

This activity was not only about selecting a “Hankel Star,” but more importantly, it provided a learning process in which students could gradually understand themselves through expression and being seen.

The willingness to step onto the stage and speak for oneself is, in itself, a meaningful part of learning and personal growth.
